Collaborative Model

History
Friends of Public Radio Arizona (FPRAZ) was incorporated as an Arizona non-profit charitable organization on November 8th, 2001 by Susan E. Edwards, Armando G. Roman and James McDougall. On March 27, 2002, the IRS awarded FPRAZ its designation as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization for a five-year probationary period. FPRAZ received official IRS 501(c)(3) determination following the probationary period on March 20, 2006.
On June 11th 2002, FPRAZ convened their first board meeting electing officers and directors in compliance with the Bylaws that had been developed through the steering committee process. The bylaws stipulate that the organization can have up to twenty elected volunteer directors from the community with voting rights and no less than twelve. Additionally, the President of Rio Salado College and the Vice President of the Division of Public Service serve on the board with full voting rights.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Maricopa County Community College District’s Governing Board and the Friends of Public Radio Arizona Board outlining a collaborative relationship between the two organizations.
All FPRAZ board members will act with honesty, integrity and openness in all their dealings.
