KJZZ won four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) for large-market radio news coverage in 2024. The announcement was made Wednesday, May 15  by the Radio Television Digital News Association

KJZZ won in the Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion category for Beth’s story: She says being a ‘non-speaker’ shouldn’t mean losing her right to decide for herself by Kirsten Dorman

Jill Ryan was honored in the Excellence in Sound category for Soundies: 1940s ‘music videos’ gave Black performers a time to shine in the Jim Crow era.

KJZZ won in the Sports Reporting category for this story:  Girls flag football is off to a flying start with first Arizona championship by Phil Latzman

The entire KJZZ Staff was honored in the Continuing Coverage category for ‘The Zone’: The last year in Phoenix’s largest homeless encampment.

The Radio Television Digital News Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism since 1971.  Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of broadcast and digital journalism.

Murrow award-winning stories put public interest above all else, provide a catalyst for public discussion and adhere to the RTDNA Code of Ethics.  Regional Murrow Award winners advance to the National Murrow Award competition.
